When you’re running a small business, you’ve got enough on your plate already. And when it comes to your website, you want to keep things as simple and reliable as possible.

wp-event manager and wpx collaboration

I’m not an agency. I don’t manage dozens of client sites. But over the years, I’ve built a lot of WordPress sites. Some for myself, some for friends, a few for charities, or people who just needed help. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that hosting issues always seem to happen at the worst possible time.

I’ve had people reach out saying, “Hey, my site’s down,” and I had no clue. Sometimes it’s something small like an expired SSL certificate. Other times, it’s malware or even getting blacklisted by Google. And fixing that? It takes hours. It’s stressful. It’s not where I want to spend my time. And honestly, most small business owners aren’t set up to deal with that either.

WordPress Is Powerful. But Events Can Get Messy

WordPress can do a lot. But when you’re trying to run an event on it, things can get complicated fast.

I’ve helped people with events like training or local community sessions, and we were always piecing things together. One plugin for forms, another for payments, maybe a calendar tool, and a few extras to try to make it all work. It ends up feeling more like a workaround than a system.

Then I found WP Event Manager, and that changed how I look at things.

A Simple Way to Run Events Right Inside WordPress

run events right inside wordpress

What really stood out to me was how easy it was to get started. It just worked.

I was able to set up clean event listings, manage registrations, send email notifications, and even add payments if needed. All of it was in one place without stacking a bunch of plugins and hoping nothing broke.

This wasn’t a huge event with thousands of attendees. It was more like maybe 10… or 50 people. That’s what makes this so useful. It’s simple enough for small events but still has everything you need to make it feel professional and can expand to thousands of attendees.

But Even the Best Plugin Needs a Solid Foundation

Even with the best tools, if your site isn’t working, none of it matters. And that’s something I’ve seen happen more than once. The site looks great, everything’s live, but no one realizes it’s down until someone says something. Or people are getting SSL errors. Or even worse, the site’s been flagged by Google.

That’s why I moved to and stick with WPX Hosting. They handle the stuff I don’t want to worry about. SSL is included and auto-renews. Malware protection is built in. And when I need help, I get a response by a real person in under 30 seconds. Not submitting a ticket and hoping someone responds days later.

I’m not a developer. I just want to make sure the site’s up, safe, and fast.

Final Thought

WP Event Manager, paired with solid hosting, has completely changed how I approach events online.

I don’t have to babysit the site. I don’t have to double-check whether a form still works. I can focus on the event, the message, and the people I’m trying to serve. If you’re running events on WordPress, make sure your site is up, secure, and fast. Because it doesn’t matter how good your event looks if people can’t access it when it counts.

The right tools make it easier. The right hosting makes it possible.

close ended question

For designing your event survey question form, you can add open-ended and closed-ended questions.

Open-Ended Questionnaires: These questions invite respondents to provide detailed and qualitative responses. The participants are encouraged to express their thoughts, feelings, and opinions in their own words. Hence, open-ended questionnaires offer rich insights into attendees’ perceptions and experiences.

Closed-Ended Questionnaires: In such questions attendees are provided with a set of options. It could be in the form of multiple-choice, rating scale or likert scale questions. Hence, closed-ended questionnaires are useful to collect quantifiable data and quick analysis.

Now, let’s know what all open-ended and closed-ended questions can be added to your pre and post events feedback form.

5 Genius Event Survey Questions

The given below event survey questions are divided into two parts, namely pre-event survey questionnaires and post-event questionnaires. You will discover what all questions can be added as open-ended and closed-ended questions.

event survey questions to add

Pre-Event Survey Questionnaires

Here are 5 questions that you can add in your survey form before conducting any event:

1. From where you came to know about this event?

You can create both open-ended or closed-ended questionnaires for this question. For example:

Open-ended: Select the social media platform from you heard about this event- LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Others.

Close-ended: Mention the platform from where you discovered this event.

2. Have you attended any of our events before?

This close-ended questionnaire will help you analyze the data of new and returning attendees.

3. Did you face any issues while registering for the event?

Get a yes or no response from the attendees by asking a close-ended question. Also, you can phrase it as an open-ended questionnaire by letting your attendees share their opinion if there is a scope of improvement.

4. Have you recommended anyone in your contact to attend this event?

Through this question you will come to know how many people from your attendees’ list find it essential to share it with others. Also, through this you can ask them to share the details to whom they referred it to attend.

Sample question: If possible, kindly share the email id of the person you referred our event to attend.

5. Why did you decide to attend our event?

This survey question will help you know the reason and their motives to participate. Through this, you can prepare your event’s framework accordingly and include aspects that majority people are expecting.

Post-Event Survey Questionnaires

Here are 5 Event survey questions that you can add in your survey form after conducting any event:

1. Did the venue and arrangements meet your expectations?

Closed-ended: Were you satisfied with the event’s venue and arrangements made? (Yes/No).

Open-ended: What aspects of the venue and other arrangements do you think need improvement

2. Did this event help you grow and share your networks?

People attend such events to find like-minded people or people from the same niche. Always ask if they were able to grow their network in the event or not in the survey questionnaire.

Closed-ended: Did you find valuable networking opportunities at the event? (Yes/No).

Open-ended: Could you share any instances where you benefited from networking during the event?

3. Would you like to recommend our events to your friends and colleagues?

A yes or no response to this question will be a closed-ended questionnaire. Whereas, “Would you like to recommend our events to your friends and colleagues? Why?” Will give freedom to your attendees to open their heart and share the reason that inspired them to recommend your events.

4. Please provide your valuable feedback on the accessibility of our event app/website

You can ask your attendees the following questions as well:

Closed-ended: Did you use our event app/website? (Yes/No).

Open-ended: Kindly share your experience on the usability of the event app/website.

5. What suggestions do you have for us to improve such events in the future?

Be welcoming to the comments and critics you are receiving from this open-ended question. And in the future, try to implement these suggestions for better customer experience.

Conclusion

As an events manager, your dedication to gathering and analyzing attendee feedback reflects your commitment to continuous improvement and creating remarkable event experiences. Also, through these questions you can get both qualitative depth and quantitative data regarding your events. Hence, make sure that you include questions mentioned above in your next survey form.

We have mentioned different types of events along with their specific details in this article so that you can understand the concept and decide which type of events will help you generate maximum profit.

exceeding-business-goals

Before getting into the different types of Corporate events, let’s have a look at how events are classified.

How events are classified

Events are usually classified into three categories – corporate, private and charity. Corporate events are mostly business and customer centric events whereas the main focus of private events is often entertainment and charity events are organized to help people.

Corporate events are mostly driven by business targets related to them. They can remarkably help businesses grow and achieve business goals if planned properly. Here is a list of corporate events that you can utilize to fulfill your business objectives.

1. Seminars

The concept of Seminars are to some extent similar to conferences. However, they have some clear differences. Unlike conferences, Seminars are like training sessions that are usually held for a few hours.

The main objective of companies behind conducting seminars is to educate people or their employees about various company related things like a new product or yearly performance or any such new developments that they want to share with them.

2. Trade shows

Trade shows offer businesses a great opportunity to increase their product sales to a great extent. Such events invite several companies to assemble under the same roof and showcase their products and services to people. Trade shows are very interesting for attendees as they get the scope to try out different products, view demonstrations and learn about various services that they can use.

Such events are interactive and based on multiple exhibition booths where companies can display their products and attendees get the scope to try out these products before purchasing them.

Through trade shows companies get a scope to directly connect with their target audience, increase their product sales and spread brand awareness.

3. Conferences

Events like conferences are industry driven events that help businesses spread awareness and increase sales. Such events cover product launch, promotions, speakers and contests. Most business conferences are based on the main business theme or the products they sell to inform the target audience about them. Conferences are usually held for multiple days.

Conferences can be organized both virtually and physically. If you want to organize your business conference following the hybrid pattern, you can do that as well. To get a detailed guide on virtual conferences, you can read our previous blog on How to conduct virtual conferences

4. Networking events

As the name suggests networking events are hosted for the purpose of building connections with people having similar interests. In simple words, networking events allow businesses that share similar interests to meet and connect with each other.

Such events offer a great opportunity for companies within the same industry to interact and discuss new developments that took place in the industry and share their knowledge on the same. Networking events can be small or huge but it is to be mentioned that small networking events make interaction between companies easier than the bigger ones.

5. Company parties

Company parties help strengthen the bond that employees share with each other in a company. It offers a great way to show employee appreciation, celebrate company achievements, elevate employee spirit and enjoy holidays.

The main purposes of such events are recreation and relaxation. They freshen up employees and charge them up to start their upcoming projects with a lot of energy.

6. Online business events

Online business events are one of the most popular types of events that businesses organize today to broaden their audience reach and increase sales. This is because virtual business events are not restricted to geographical boundaries. People from different corners of the world can join them. All they need is a high speed internet connection.

Are you planning to step into the world of online business? If yes, you must be listing out the tools you need for the purpose. When it comes to selecting an efficient ecommerce platform the decision to pick one can be confusing as the market offers a sea of such platforms. However, Shopify and WordPress are the most popular ones in the list.

Those who already have a WordPress site, it is recommended for them to use WordPress for their ecommerce business as well. This is because, if they choose WordPress then they only have to install WooCommerce on their sites to launch their business as an extension to their website. It is not only a convenient option for them but also involves less effort.

shopify or wordpress

On the other hand, shopify can be a great choice for those who are going to start their ecommerce business for the first time which means they do not own a website yet. Shopify provides its users with countless useful features and also offers a 14 days free trial.

What is Shopify?

Shopify refers to a web application that is created for merchants to help them build and launch their virtual shop.

  • With shopify, users get a huge array of customizable themes that they can use based on their branding needs.
  • It lets users sell both physical and digital goods.
  • One of the biggest advantages of shopify is that it allows users to build their own online shop themselves without having in–depth technical and designing knowledge and skills.
  • Shopify is an all-in-one hosted solution that offers everything to its users that is needed to build and run an ecommerce website.
  • Users can fully customize their shopify store to add additional features through apps.
  • It is a SaaS tool for which you need to pay on a monthly basis to continue using it.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is a content management tool that is available mainly in two version:

  • Hosted WordPress.
  • Self-hosted WordPress.

Hosted WordPress

  • Hosted WordPress is similar to Shopify. It is a SaaS tool that is available at WordPress.com.
  • You can easily access its features in exchange for a monthly or annual fee. The features help you create a simple blog, ecommerce site or any other website.
  • WordPress offers different plans that include Personal, Premium, Business and eCommerce at different price ranges.
  • If you wish to sell your products through your website, the business and eCommerce plans can be the best choices for you. This is because these plans include several additional ecommerce and other out of the box plugins.

Self-hosted WordPress

  • Self-hosted WordPress can be downloaded from wordpress.org before installation.
  • It is also an open-source platform and its code can be easily edited.
  • WordPress based sites are highly customizable which makes it a flexible platform for the right developers. Moreover, using the appropriate plugins in WordPress has the power to meet the needs of every website design project.
  • WordPress installation does not charge you anything but you do need to bear the cost of hosting, development and domain registration.

What type of users Shopify and WordPress target

Shopify usually targets two types of people:

  • People who do not have developing knowledge.
  • People who can not afford to hire a team or a person to create their business website.

Such users rely on Shopify because it gives them the scope to build their website without coding skills and also it does not require a huge amount of investment.

WordPress is preferred by a wider group of people that includes:

  • Beginners in the web designing field.
  • People with web developmental knowledge.
  • People who have no budget limitation for their project.

Here, we would like to point out the fact that WordPress can also be used by people with basic or no coding skills. This means people can easily build and handle their WordPress site without having any coding expertise especially, when you are satisfied with a visual editor for WordPress such as Divi or Elementor.

However, building a WordPress site without coding skills can be a bit more complicated than creating an online store with shopify as a lot of configuration is needed in WordPress before publishing the website. This configuration is usually based on the requirements you have for your eCommerce site.

Another segment of the audience that prefers to work with WordPress is the people with in-depth coding skill and experience. Such people can fully utilize the platform to fulfill all of their requirements. People who have no budget restrictions and are ready to spend a huge amount that they can use to appoint a developers’ team for their websites can opt for WordPress.

Though Shopify offers multiple ways through coding or apps to its users to make changes to it but it does have certain limitations. In addition to that, you would always need to host your site on shopify’s servers.

The cost of using shopify and WordPress

Shopify

The cost of the platform plays an important role to help you choose a suitable platform for your website. Similarly when you are choosing between WordPress and Shopify, you need to consider their pricing structure as well.

shopify

Shopify gives users a 14 day free trial period. It mainly has five plans including Shopify starter ($5 per month), Basic ($29 per month), shopify ($79 per month), Advanced ($299 per month)and Shopify plus (something around $2000). The shopify starter lets users sell their products on social media networks and the shopify plus is an enterprise level plan.

WordPress

Measuring or predicting the overall cost of building a WordPress site is a complicated process because most of the time it depends on multiple factors.

wordpress

Although WordPress is an open source free platform, it is not a completely free option especially for business websites. This is because users need a few other things to launch a WordPress website for which they need to pay.

Such things include:

  • hosting — it is the server space on which WordPress CMS is installed and the content of your site is saved.
  • plugins — it is required to add more features and functionalities to a WordPress site.
  • eCommerce integration — It is needed when users want to sell products on their WordPress site.
  • a template —  required to design a WordPress site.

The fact here is if you want to build a simple or basic website for your business, choosing Shopify can be a more affordable option for you than WordPress. This might be surprising for you as we already mentioned that WordPress is free and Shopify is a paid platform. The truth is it all depends on the type of website you want to create.

Having a clear and straightforward list of your website building requirements  beside you can help you get a clear idea about which platform would be more affordable to you.

Shopify Vs WordPress Pros and Cons

Shopify Pros

  • No coding or technological skills required to work with shopify.
  • Shopify is designed to fulfill the requirements of eCommerce websites which means the sales tools that users need are already present here.
  • Users do not need to bear any additional cost for hosting or external security.

Shopify Cons

  • If you wish to avoid Shopify’s own payment gateway and use something else then you will need to pay an additional charge as transaction fees.
  • If you want to modify your current theme then your content needs to be reframed.

WordPress Pros

  • WordPress offers a lot of customization options that make it a more flexible platform than Shopify.
  • When it comes to WordPress, users can get a sea of useful resources online both from experts and users.
  • Its new editing tool named Gutenberg simplifies the editing process.

WordPress Cons

  • Basic technical knowledge is needed to fully utilize the benefits of this platform.
  • Can be more expensive than Shopify.
  • Users need paid services including web hosting, security and a domain name.

Shopify is recommended in the following situations:

  • When you wish to build your own online shop with less or no technical knowledge.
  • When you have a tight-budget.
  • You are looking for an easy and convenient platform.

WordPress is recommended in the following situation:

  • When you have a bit of technical knowledge and coding skills.
  • You have no budget restriction and afford to hire a developers’ team.
  • You want flexibility and complete control over your new site.

Shopify Vs WordPress: Usage

WordPress, being one of the most popular website building platforms has empowered a major part of all the websites available on the internet today, whereas shopify is trusted by many businesses as a useful eCommerce platform. Currently, more than 60000 online shops are based on Shopify.

shopify platform

Shopify is a platform that is designed specially for people who want to build their online stores. This means it comes with all the necessary tools that are required to create an eCommerce store. On the other hand, WordPress is suitable for all types of websites. As it is not an eCommerce based platform it does not have any in-built eCommerce features but some amazing plugins can be used to help you start selling products online. For example – the WooCommerce plugin.

To make a Shopify based store, you need to open an account, select a theme and finally display your products to sell. Unlike Shopify, setting up a store on WordPress is a bit time consuming process. This is because with WordPress you need to buy a hosting server, themes and plugins to start working with it.

Shopify Vs WordPress : which has better eCommerce features

Having good features and functionalities are essential for an eCommerce website. They help you promote and sell your products efficiently on the web.
